Tear-drop The entrance driveway around the tear-drop shaped lawn is synonymous with SBA. It will continue to be the organizational heart of the campus for many decades to come. Improvements include defining the perimeter of the tear-drop with an outline of deciduous trees. Parking will be expanded and better defined with paving, curbs and sidewalks.
The Chapel The existing chapel marks the entrance to the campus and is symbolic of the traditional Christian community that calls Sunshine Bible Academy "home." The Chapel will continue to house services and programs for up to 120 people.
Multi-purpose Building Serving a variety of essential purposes, a new 120' x 160' multi-use facility will include:
- Three new classrooms
- A multi-use music room
- Event seating for up to 2,000 guests
- Greatly expanded recreational space for basketball, volleyball and wrestling (These new capabilities will significantly increase our abilities to host year-round camps, conferences, tournaments, training camps, and church retreats.)
- Larger locker rooms, concessions area and public restrooms
Residence Hall A vibrant dorm environment is essential to the ministry of Sunshine Bible Academy. A new 3 story dormitory will become home for up to 120 students. (A future phase will provide housing for another 120 students.) In order to facilitate a strong discipleship relationship between students and staff, the new dorms will feature the following elements:
- A home-like setting with bedrooms organized around a "Family Activity room."
- Each group of 20 students will be mentored by a dorm parent.
- A co-ed commons area adjoins each boy's and girl's Family-Activity room.
- Alcoves for studying, computer use, game time, small group activities, etc.
- Adaptability of residence rooms for housing during retreats, camps and conferences.
- Connection to the rest of campus with a covered corridor.
Student Union / Commons As the hub of student activities, this central space will be recognized as the heart of Sunshine Bible Academy and includes:
- Dining area for all regular meals (serving up to 400 people at a time.)
- New commercial kitchen.
- Game/activity area for ping pong, foosball, etc.
- Study areas and small group meeting spaces
- Open area for reunions, banquets, receptions etc.
Fine Arts Complex Music has always been one of SBA's trademarks. This new complex will provide band and choir rooms surrounding a small theatre / auditorium. The auditorium will be used for additional gatherings that are too large for the existing chapel. The Fine Arts Complex will connect to the Student Commons for pre / post event functions.
Classrooms Several wings of classrooms will be phased in around the Fine Arts structure. Separate phases of classrooms will be built in accordance with student body growth and program needs. One of the wings could be dedicated for the use of elementary and middle school students.
Staff Housing Existing staff housing areas are on the north side of the campus. Expansion for additional housing will provide houses, duplexes, triplexes, and/or apartments along the outside perimeter of a road looping through the northwest portion of the campus. The inner part of the space formed by the loop road will be maintained as an open, park-like space.
Sports and Recreation Area Extensive space on the western portion of the campus will provide for a football field, competitive running track / field and baseball / softball fields. Stadium bleacher seating and expanded parking will complement the athletic / recreation areas. An existing stock pond will be cleaned up and used for winter ice sports.
Existing Buildings The old main building may be remodeled and continue to provide classrooms and administrative areas. The lower level may be remodeled into a library study area... a quiet place to do research, pray, study or meet with small groups. The science/industrial arts building to the west will continue to serve as classrooms. The Quonset to the southwest will become the maintenance service building for the campus.
Campus Utilities A transition to centralized campus wide heating / cooling systems –along with the use of renewable resources (such as geothermal systems) is integrated into the multi-phased implementation of the master plan.
